Lleyn Sheep

The Lleyn is a pure bred sheep of Welsh origin known for its easy going temperament and excellent mothering ability. Over the last few years numbers have increased dramatically due to their "easy care" attributes.

In 1995 we added the first Lleyn sheep to our existing flock.   We were immediately impressed with how easily handled the breed was, their plentiful milk supply and high lambing percentage.

Subsequently the next years were spent establishing a top quality flock of pure bred Lleyns registered with the Lleyn Society.  This eventually resulted in closed flock status of 1,400 ewes.

Due to partial retirement our current flock of Lleyns is now running at 200 ewes, all of which are genotyped ARR/ARR. Stock rams now include No. C15 purchased from 1) N & C.F Morris for 3,800gns at the Carlisle 2004 sale and 2) the 2005 Royal Highland Show Champion (pictured above) purchased from N Lawrence (flock 333) at the 2005 Carlisle sale.

It is our intention to maintain a similar number of Lleyns, our focus as always, will be on producing all round quality livestock.

We also breed white dorper sheep and Mangalitza pigs, a curly coated pig renowned for its outstanding flavour, perfect for the production of Parma ham.
